STRONG STAR Training Initiative
Since 2017 the STRONG STAR Training Initiative has focused on increasing access to evidence-based treatments for PTSD nationwide. Under the leadership of the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, the STRONG STAR Training Initiative extends the cutting-edge research from the STRONG STAR Consortium into the clinical practice of mental health clinicians. We do so through providing competency-based training in evidence-based treatments for PTSD and related conditions to licensed mental health clinicians. Training is conducted in the form of a “Learning Community,” ensuring clinicians have the education, support, and resources they need to become experts in providing evidence-based treatments within their community.
- Evidence-based training and treatment that leads to sustained provider and patient outcomes.
- Providing innovative, inclusive, and accessible solutions that enhance affordable behavioral health care training nationwide.
- Responding to the emerging learning needs of mental health care providers through collaboration, mentorship, community, resources, and personal development.
- Fostering a network of specialists who through their whole selves can reflect and best treat their communities with humility with regard to race, ethnicity, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, socioeconomic status, physical ability or attributes, religious or ethical values systems, national origin, political beliefs, and cultures.
Our ultimate goal: To expand the workforce of mental health clinicians trained in evidence-based treatments so that veterans and everyone in need have access to high-quality behavioral care in their communities.
