Learning Communities

We approach training licensed mental health clinicians through a competency-based training model which we refer to as a “Learning Community.” Each Learning Community is focused on a specific EBT and consists of eight core elements:

1. Clinician Application

Start your journey with the workshop learning community and provide SSTI with vital information to tailor your learning community experience.

2. Pre-Workshop Learning Assignments

Jumpstart your measurement-based care knowledge and instill essential knowledge you will build on during your workshop.

3. Live Workshop on Foundational Elements of EBT

Attend a 2-day live workshop detailing the research, fundamentals, and implementation of your chosen evidence-based treatment, either virtually or in-person.

4. Post-Workshop Group Clinical Consultation

Continue on with the incredible support of other SSTI trained clinicians and expert SSTI staff in clinical consultation groups as you start applying EBT techniques with your clients. Consultation is an integral part of learning community and is a required component of achieving Provider Status. You may already be receiving support from a supervisor, and consultation shares a commonality with supervision in that you receive expert guidance and support. Consultation also allows you to dive deeper, and learn along with a group of peers, as you apply the new therapy from the learning community workshop with your clients.

5. Provider Portal Access

Work in our unparalleled Provider Portal which provides access to critical resources that guide you through EBT treatments session by session. The portal includes rich content in videos, documents, webinars, and client data visuals (through de-identified data).

6. Organizational Consultation and Support

Gather support for your supervisor and/or organization to transition into measurement based care and EBTs for PTSD.

7. Continuing Education Credits

Gain access to CE credit for your workshop, consultation, and additional learning in the Provider Portal.  Your workshop fees fund all CE credit through these resources. *Our continuing education credits have historically been recognized by most professional state licensing boards. However, this is not guaranteed. Please check with your licensing board for verification.*

8. Quality Improvement and Outcome Monitoring

Receive information about the impact your transition to measurement-based care is making in the larger community as your learning cohort receives monthly updates about the progress in reach and outcomes for PTSD clients.

This was perhaps the best training workshop I have attended in the last 15 years.  My trainer was a very skilled teacher and facilitator of PE. She is highly knowledgeable about the subject matter and is supportive and encouraging of the trainees. Although I hate role plays, I found doing these role plays challenging but ultimately helpful. The consultants who observed participant dyads performing the role plays were extremely supportive of our efforts.

Partnering with RAND

Developing the Training in Psychotherapy Tool

The STRONG STAR Training Initiative Leadership partnered with RAND to develop a Training in Psychotherapy (TIP) Tool to assess how psychotherapy trainings incorporate core elements of effective psychotherapy training. Our Learning Community Model was featured as a Case Example and evaluated as a training program that supports developing competence.
